Geological Map of the Maltese Islands - Artificial
AmbjentData identifying landscape areas (shown as polygons) attributed with geomorphological descriptions. The scale of the data is 1:10 000 scale. Coverage is provided for the main Maltese Islands. The artificial geology theme describes the main areas of man-made (anthropogenic) materials and workings. The data are available in vector format (containing the geometry of each feature linked to a database record describing their attributes) as ESRI shapefiles. -
Geological Map of the Maltese Islands – Superficial
Reġjuni u BlietData identifying landscape areas (shown as polygons) attributed with geological names and deposit descriptions. The scale of the data is 1:10 000 scale. Superficial deposits are the youngest geological deposits formed during the most recent period of geological time, the Quaternary, which extends back approximately 2.588million years from the present. They lie on top of older deposits or rocks referred to as bedrock. Superficial deposits were laid down by various natural processes such as action by water, wind, and weathering. These superficial deposits are unconsolidated sediments such as gravel, sand, silt and clay. The digital data includes attribution to identify each deposit type. -
Natura 2000 Sites
AmbjentNatura 2000 is a network of protected areas across the European Union, with the aim of affording protection to habitats and species of wild fauna and flora of Community interest. Conservation and management measures have to be established and implemented to ensure that the condition of the natural habitats and species for which the protected areas have been designated, is maintained and/or restored, in order to ensure their long-term survival/existence. This dataset includes: Special Protection Areas (SPAs), which are areas designated under the EU Birds Directive for protecting wild bird species; and/or either Special Areas of Conservation (SACs), which are sites identified under the EU Habitats Directive for conserving rare habitats and species; or Sites of Community Importance (SCIs), which are interim sites proposed for SAC designation, highlighting their environmental importance; or Proposed Sites of Community Importance (pSCIs), which are areas suggested for SCI status, awaiting formal approval. Reference can be made to the Natura 2000 viewer - including datasheets (link: http://natura2000.eea.europa.eu/) and to the Natura 2000 database (link: http://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/data/natura-2000/) to obtain information on each Natura 2000 site for almost all of the EU Member States. Information for the sites nominated by Malta are also available through these same links. -
Night time noise indicator in the industrial areas
AmbjentThis layer shows the night time noise indicator levels which represent the noise indicator for sleep disturbance in the industrial areas as defined for Malta according to the requirements of Directive 2002/49/EC relating to the assessment and management of environmental noise. -
Pollutant Release and Transfer Register
AmbjentThis dataset contains a list of certain facilities falling under the scope of the E-PRTR Regulations. -
Register of Industrial Sites
AmbjentThe basis for the reporting of administrative and identification data captured within the Registry, originates in two fundamental legal instruments, namely the Industrial Emissions Directive and the E-PRTR Regulation. The Registry provides spatial information on regulated industrial sites in Malta and is the reference dataset for thematic reporting on entities identified in it.
