Population figures are in line with the ‘usual residence’ definition. The usual residence concept is being used for the compilation of total population figure. The methodology used is in line with European Regulation (EU) No. 1260/2013.

Et is the total emigration of both Maltese and foreign nationals resident in Malta registered during year t who leave the country for a period of at least 12 months. Maltese Population: includes Maltese residents only.
