The Main Protected Species

This list includes tree species that are legally protected under varying conditions. Species marked with (§) are strictly protected in all locations; those marked (x) are not protected if horticulturally grown; and those marked (*) are exempt when cultivated for agricultural purposes by registered farmers. All other species are protected when located in protected areas, outside development zones (ODZ), in green or rural enclaves, or within urban public open spaces.
